Cottondale FFA Conducts Annual Officer Retreat
The 2018-2019 Cottondale FFA officers went to Gainesville, Florida July 27th through July 29th for their annual Officer Retreat. The Officers visited facilities at the University of Florida's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. The facilities included; the meats lab and the newly built honey bee lab. Visiting these facilities informed the officers about the latest technological advancements in these agricultural industries and some of the possible careers in it. The officers also had the opportunity to listen to CALS representatives about different majors the college offers. The following day the officers began their yearly planning with some team building exercises, and then proceeded with building the chapter’s program of activities for the upcoming school year. The team also discussed the awards applications the chapter would take on this year. Huge thanks go out to Mrs. Allyson Trimble and Mrs. Amie Imler with the animal science department, Dr. Charles Carr with meat science, Mr. Branden Stanford with the honey bee research facility and Mrs. Cathy Carr the Director of Alumni and Career Services. This Retreat would have not been possible without these generous people.
